Our Dance Officers

Meet our fantastic dance officers, Rebecca MacLeod & Allison MacDonald.

Rebecca was raised on the Isle of Skye and began attending SkyeDance when she started high school. This quickly became her hobby and passion. She took part in various performance opportunities across Scotland through SkyeDance as well as taking part in many SkyeDance showcases. She also enjoyed both playing roles and creating/teaching choreography for the local pantomime.

Rebecca then went on to study Musical Theatre at the Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre Arts over a period of 3 years consequently achieving a BA Honours Degree in Musical Theatre. She trained in various dance styles such as; jazz, ballet, musical theatre, tap and contemporary as well as training in acting and singing. Rebecca performed in a graduating showcase in the West End of London to an audience of agents, whereby she gained representation by British Talent Agency. Since graduating, Rebecca resided in Glasgow travelling regularly to London for auditions, before moving back home to Skye amid the pandemic.

Allison started dancing in high school, after being inspired by watching SkyeDance’s 10 year anniversary showcase. She was incredibly nervous joining but after attending a few classes, she knew that dancing was something that she wanted to pursue as a career. In 2015, she was a member of SkyeDance Youth Company, performing at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Ullapool Dance Festival. She also assisted SkyeDance's mini ballet classes each week.

Allison went on to train at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance in Dundee, gaining her BA (hons) in Contemporary Dance and Performance. As well as learning contemporary, she also picked up other styles and techniques of dance, including ballet, floorwork, capoeira and improvisation. Whilst studying in Dundee, Allison was also involed with YDance Horizons, an all inclusive company and National Youth Dance Company of Scotland, YDance’s flagship company.

Our studio

SkyeDance was delighted to have its purpose built dance studio opened on Friday 10th January 2020. Based at Portree Primary School, this is where the majority of our classes are held, along with weekly sessions for the pupils at Portree Primary School. The studio is self contained with its own disabled access and toilet, and includes ballet barres, sprung flooring and mirrors.

SkyeDance would like to thank Robertsons Trust, Highland Council, Leader, and Awards for All for their contribution to the building of the studio which is a great facility and the first of its kind on the island!
